RHODE ISLAND FIREFIGHTERS HOCKEY LEAGUE

Rules & Regulations

1. Players must be paid Firefighters, Dispatchers, Police Officers, Corrections Officers or Park Police (Except for the goaltenders who must be 18 years or older).


2. If an opposing team wishes to challenge the eligibility of a player (s), they may do so before the game (The challenge can NOT take place during the game)
.


3. If a challenge takes place before a game that player in question must prove his eligibility before playing the game, if he can not, upon agreement of the team captains they can
     
A. Play the game without the players in question.
     
B. The team with the players in question will Forfeit the game, but can still play the game           using the players in question.


4. If both teams don't have enough players to play a game both will receive a loss also if game is forfeited the score will be recorded as 1 to 0 and all stats will not count for both teams.


5.  If both teams are found to have players who are ineligible to play, both teams will receive a loss.


6.  It is up to the Captain, Assistant Captain or person running the team to issue the challenge to the administration.


7.  If a issue takes place, I will speak to the team Captains as soon as possible to render a solution.

8.  I ask that if a problem does take place, that we discuss and accept the outcome in an adult manner.


9.  Your cooperation in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Remember this is a league set up to help you exercise, relive stress and be with people who shear the same interests in work and sports.


10. A waiver form must be signed with the players name and number before he steps on the ice. The waiver form will be in the locker room for the first couple of weeks so all players have a chance to sign it. If for some reason a player starts some games later, see me for your waiver so he can be added.


11.  A roster with the players name and number in print form should be submitted. This will help me make up the score sheets and keep track of player stats.


12. Players must play at least 9 games to qualify for the semi - final and championship games


13.Players must wear a helmet and should wear any other protective equipment available including a face shield.


14. Teams may borrow players from other teams who are on other teams roster. You may only borrow player to field a team of 10, if you have 10 players you may not borrow any more. Games where a team does not have atleast 6 players including a goalie will forfiet the game and recieve a loss. The opposing team if they have the required number of players will recieve a win of 1-0.


15.  A.H.A.U.S. Rules apply, except the following:
       A. Any offence for intent to injure the offender will be ejected from the league without        refund. This includes fighting.
       B. Any player receiving 3 minor penalties in one game will be ejected for that game only.
       C. Minor penalties will be 1.5 min. Double minor will be 3.00 min and major 5:00 with        ejection(Penalty to be served by player on the ice at time of the infraction).
       D. Misconduct penalties will be served as 6 min and will count as two penalties toward        ejection.
       E. All penalties assessed by the on-ice officials are final and cannot be appealed.

       F. Abuse of any official, timekeeper or other player will not be tolerated and the team        could be assessed a minor penalty and fined $25.00.
       D. Fighting will not be tolerated. Fighting will carry a 5 minute major plus game        misconduct and season suspension with no refund. We all have to go to work the next        day.
 
     


16. The Games
       A. Games will take place Monday's and Wednesdays 8:30am and 9:30am
       B. If a Holiday falls on a Monday, Monday's game will be played on Tuesday.
       C. Each team will play one game a week.
       D. On snow days only the rink can cancel games, if they do so I will make every effort to        contact the teams captains as soon as possible.
       E. Teams can warm up until 8:30 of early game or 9:30 of late games, games should try        to start as close to on time as they can.
       F. Three 12 minute periods stop time.
       G. Automatic Icing.
       H. No center red line for offside passes.
        I.   NO CHECKING!
        J. Full slap shots are allowed.
        K. Each team is allowed 1 - 1 minute time out per game.
        L. No overtime for regular season games.
        M. If a team has no goalie, they can play with six players until goalie arrives.


17.   Teams should make an effort to wear uniformed numbered jersey's (So we can keep track of stats).


18.  The following order of succession will determine the standings
        A. Most Wins
        B. Most Points
        C. Goals For
        D. Goals against
        E. Most wins between the two tied teams


19.    Playoffs
        A. 1st vs. 6th  ( 5 min. overtime until  winner)
        B. 2nd Vs. 5th   ( 5 min. overtime until  winner)
        C. 3rd Vs. 4th   ( 5 min. overtime until  winner)

        A. A vs. C   ( 5 min. overtime until winner)
        B. B vs. D   ( 5 min. overtime until winner)

        A. Winner of A Vs winner of B in a best of three series (5 min. overtime until winner)

Winners of this years league will receive a prize to be announced later
